When we talk about Aragonites, we are talking about Cuenca and, more precisely, the entire Keuper area near the Contreras reservoir. Places like Enguídanos, Minglanilla, La Pesquera, or the nearby Valencian community of Camporrobles form an authentic ""Golden Triangle"" when it comes to finding this mineral.
The Aragonitos de Minglanilla mining area is located near the Cabriel River, the Contreras reservoir and the Hoces del Cabriel nature reserve, the largest in the province of Cuenca. It was declared the first nature reserve in Castile-La Mancha in 1995. Today, it is no longer possible to legally mine aragonite.
